The entity says that it performed a total of 5,438 tests for the tournament dispute in Brazil
Conmebol released this Thursday (17) the balance of Covid-19 tests during the Copa America 2021 dispute in Brazil.
In all, 5,438 tests were carried out on players, staff members, journalists and service providers hired for the tournament. Of these, 5,393 confirmations were negative, while 65 were positive.
According to the South American entity, 46 positives correspond to members of staff and refereeing teams. The other 19 infected are official delegations.
"It is worth remembering that Conmebol is the only confederation that continues firmly with its vaccination plan against Covid-19 for people who make up the football family," says a statement the entity, which was criticized for bringing the tournament to Brazil in the middle to the pandemic.
Bolivia and Venezuela announced this Thursday two more cases of Covid-19 in their respective delegations.
Inside the field, the ball returns to roll today with the opening of the second round. Colombia and Venezuela face off at 6pm in Goiânia and Brazil and Peru duel at 9pm in Rio.
